Dear Sunset Families,

What a fun week to be a Sunset Tiger!

Popcorn Friday was a huge hit—and I have to admit, popcorn is one of my favorites! 🍿 A special thank you to our wonderful parent volunteers and PTA for helping make the day feel extra special for our students. I especially appreciated the way our volunteers supported the celebration while allowing classrooms to maintain their focus on learning. It was a great example of how we can bring joy and excitement into our school while still protecting the high expectations and rigorous learning that happen each day at Sunset. Thank you, PTA and volunteers, for being such thoughtful partners!

We also celebrated our first Tiger of the Month Assembly of the 2026–2027 school year! 🐯🧡 It was such a joyful moment to recognize students who are demonstrating our Sunset Promises: Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Kind. Seeing our students celebrated alongside their families filled us with so much pride. Thank you to the families who joined us and helped make this first celebration so meaningful. We are incredibly proud of our Tigers!

And the fun isn't over! Our Run, Walk & Roll fundraiser is underway, and we are getting excited for our big event on Friday, October 2! Be sure to watch your teacher's weekly newsletter for information about the special theme your child's class has selected for the event. We can't wait to see the creativity, energy, and Tiger spirit our students bring!

🚗 Keep Moving: Please keep the drop-off line moving. Adults should remain in vehicles, pull forward when space is available, and have students exit from the passenger side. Staff are available to assist! If you need to get out of your vehicle, please park in a designated parking space.

🚌 Bus Lanes: Do not enter or drive through bus lanes while buses are present unless directed by a staff member. Keeping these areas clear allows buses to safely enter, load, and depart.

♿ Accessible Parking: Accessible spaces are reserved for vehicles displaying the required permit or license plate.

Thank you for doing your part to move quickly, follow staff directions, and keep traffic flowing safely. Your partnership makes a big difference! 

Dear Sunset Families,         

   

On October 5-30, we will be asking for students to reflect on their own mindsets and approaches to learning via an online survey with Panorama.  This Social Emotional Learning (SEL) survey provides us with data as we work within school committees to improve the experiences of students and families and design support systems for students.  If a student doesn’t feel like they have enough information to answer a question, they will be able to skip the item altogether. If you would like to opt your child out of this survey, please let us know by emailing or calling the contact below. The students’ individual responses to these surveys will be confidential with individual student data, or answers, only available to administrators and counselors. 

Grade level or school-wide data is shared with the school board and staff to help us identify areas for improvement and areas of progress.  Panorama data is used to help us continuously improve as a system.  Guidance from school board policy leads us to help students become safe, contributing citizens who demonstrate successful social and emotional skills. Panorama is just one more tool toward these ends.
