Dear Sunset Families,

What a wonderful first week of school! It has been such a joy to see our Tigers back in the building—learning new routines, reconnecting with friends, meeting their teachers, and settling into a new school year. I hope your child came home this week with stories to share and feeling excited about the year ahead!

I also want to say thank you for the incredibly warm welcome you have extended to me and for the support, patience, and partnership you have shown our staff during these first few days. Starting a new school year takes all of us working together, and I am so appreciative of the way our Sunset community has come together to help make the start of the year positive and successful for our students.

Next week is an especially exciting one because all of our kindergarten students will officially be together, and we will welcome our preschool Tigers for their first day! We cannot wait to have our entire Sunset community here and to continue building the routines, relationships, and sense of belonging that will carry us through a wonderful year.

We are excited to welcome our Sunset families to Back-to-School Night on Wednesday, September 16!

Preschool families will attend from 4:30–5:15 p.m and end the event with a brief principal welcome in the Tiger Den (gym/cafeteria). 

Kindergarten through fourth-grade families should plan to begin the evening together in the Tiger Den (gym/cafeteria) with a brief principal welcome, followed by two classroom sessions.

Offering two sessions allows families with multiple students to visit each child’s classroom. During each session, teachers will share a brief presentation about classroom routines, expectations, and the year ahead. 

Please arrive early so we can begin together on time.

This evening is designed specifically for parents and caregivers. If possible, we kindly ask that children remain at home so we can provide families with the space and environment needed to listen, connect, and ask questions. We look forward to seeing you and continuing our partnership for a wonderful year at Sunset!

Thank you for helping us have such a smooth and successful start to the school year! Morning arrival and afternoon dismissal has gone incredibly well, and we have been so proud to see our students—especially our youngest Tigers—saying goodbye confidently and heading inside to begin their day.

We know the first few days of school are a big transition for both students and families. Thank you for partnering with us as we help students learn their new routines, build independence, and feel safe and confident at school.

Our drop-off/pick-up lane is designed to keep students safe while also preventing traffic from backing up around our parking lot and surrounding streets. Please help us by following these expectations each morning:

Our goal is for arrival and dismissal to feel safe, calm, welcoming, and efficient for every Sunset family. When we all follow the same procedures, we reduce congestion, protect students from moving vehicles, and help everyone begin the school day successfully.

Thank you again for such a wonderful start and for trusting us with your Tigers. We appreciate your partnership and are excited to continue helping our students grow in confidence and independence as they learn their school routines. 

Hello, Sunset Families!

What a great start to our school year! As we move beyond those first exciting days, our students are beginning to settle into routines, build friendships, learn classroom expectations, and show what it means to be a Sunset Tiger.

We are so thankful for your partnership in helping make that happen.

One of the most important ways families can support student success is by helping children attend school consistently and arrive ready to learn.

Every day matters. Every morning is an opportunity to learn something new, strengthen friendships, and be part of the classroom community.
